Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is hopeful the club will sign a new striker in the January transfer window.

The Gers have scored 37 goals in 14 Scottish Premiership games so far, the most by any team, but have relied heavily on Alfredo Morelos, who has mustered nine goals.

Kyle Lafferty has had to play second fiddle, while Umar Sadiq, on loan from Roma, has not made the grade.

Gerrard has revealed that he would like to add another striker in the winter transfer window and added that the club are open to strengthening other areas of the pitch if they have the chance.

“Hopefully we will add a striker, but isn't every team reliant on a top number nine?

“We are looking at potential players across the pitch as always”, Gerrard told a press conference ahead of Rangers’ trip to Aberdeen.

Gerrard’s side take on the Dons on Wednesday and will hope to keep the pressure on Celtic who are second in the table, but have a game in hand over Rangers.

Although Rangers have not struggled for goals this season, the burden has fallen heavily on Morelos.
