Rangers legend Barry Ferguson believes the Gers do not have a disciplinary issue despite picking up seven red cards already this season.

Steven Gerrard’s side moved to the top of the table with a 2-1 win against Hearts on Sunday, but they had to do so with 10 men as Scott Arfield was sent off in the 72nd minute for a dangerous challenge on goalkeeper Zdebek Zlamal.

The Gers have received some flak for not being disciplined enough on the pitch as they have picked up a total of three red cards in their last six games in all competitions.

To their credit, Rangers have not lost any of their last three games where they have played with a man short.

Ferguson has criticised Arfield for his needless challenge on Zlamal, but insists that Gerrard’s men do not have a disciplinary problem.

“If you ask Scott Arfield, who is an experienced player, he didn't need to go and do that”, Ferguson said on PLZ Soccer.

“But I don't think they've got a discipline problem.

“But it was crazy what he did. Let's be honest."

Rangers will next take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday.
