Rangers legend Barry Ferguson insists that the Scottish Premiership title is Celtic’s to lose despite the Gers’ impressive form this season.

Steven Gerrard’s side have shown good consistency so far and sit one point clear at the top of the table, having played a game more than the Hoops.

Rangers dug deep to pick up a 2-1 win against Hearts after being reduced to 10 men on Sunday to move above Celtic in the table, but Ferguson has said he isn’t getting carried away.

Ferguson went on to add that Rangers are stronger this year, but Celtic are still the favourites for the title.

“For me Celtic are still clear favourites”, Ferguson said on PLZ soccer.

“Rangers had to go there and for a chance to go top of the league, and we all know what a difficult place Tynecastle is like.

“I'm not getting carried away.

“There is a massive difference from now to where they were a year ago, but I still think Celtic are favourites for the league.”

The two sides meet in late December in the Old Firm derby which could have a big impact on the title race this season.

Rangers have stepped up in recent weeks, having won four out of their last five games in the Scottish Premiership.
