Former Premier League shot-stopper Shaka Hislop has rubbished talk Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey could join La Liga champions Barcelona following his contract expiry next summer.

Ramsey, who played an integral part in Arsenal’s exciting win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, is all set to quit the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

The Gunners have opted against offering the Welshman a new deal at the Emirates and Ramsey will be able to enter into negotiations with foreign clubs as early as January in a bid to secure his future.

Several clubs including Barcelona and Juventus have been linked with a potential swoop for the midfielder due to his availability on a free transfer next summer.

However, Hislop cannot see a move to the Nou Camp with Barcelona for Ramsey, insisting that the Welshman is a much better fit for Juventus.

“I don’t see this [Ramsey to Barcelona] working out at all in all honesty”, Hislop said on ESPN FC.

“He was linked with Juventus last week, I thought that might have been a better fit.

“To Barcelona? No, I don’t see that one.”

Ramsey, who won three FA Cups during his time with Arsenal, made his debut for Wales in 2008 and has scored 14 goals from 58 caps for the national team at senior level.
