Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has suggested that the Gers are in good shape ahead of the Aberdeen clash by insisting they have two strikers available and in form now.

The Light Blues overturned a one-goal deficit to emerge 2-1 winners against Hearts on Sunday at Tynecastle in the Scottish Premiership as they climbed to the summit of the league table.

Rangers have played a game more than Celtic, but are now in the driving seat and will be aiming to carry on with the same momentum against Aberdeen tonight at Ibrox.

The Dons have proved to be a tough opposition for Gerrard’s men so far this season, with the reverse fixture in the league ending in a stalemate in August, while Aberdeen knocked them out of the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

However, Gerrard suggested that Rangers are in good shape ahead of the Aberdeen meeting by insisting that they will be boosted by the availability of two strikers who are in good form.

Alfredo Morelos, who was sent off during the reverse fixture in the Premiership, scored during the win over Hearts on Sunday while Kyle Lafferty is also raring to go after regaining his mojo in recent weeks.

“The semi-final, we thought we played well in general play but lacked a bit of quality in the final third”, Gerrard said in a press conference.

“And we got done against the run of play on a set-piece, which we know Aberdeen are very strong at.

“So credit to them for progressing into the final – but this is a completely different game.

“It’s at Ibrox and it will be great to have two recognised strikers available. We have played Aberdeen twice now and we have only had a recognised striker on the pitch for 12 minutes.

“So we are going in with confidence in a good place.

"We have Morelos in form and ready to go, and we also have Lafferty back in the form he was in when he first came in.”

Morelos, who is Rangers’ top-scorer this season, has been directly involved in 27 goals from 28 games across all competitions this term.
