Former Scotland goalkeeper Alan Rough believes Rangers could have a tough time against Dundee on Sunday, despite the fact that the Jim McIntyre’s side are at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.

Dundee picked up an impressive 4-0 win against Hamilton on Wednesday as former Gers star Kenny Miller’s hat-trick inspired them to their first win since late September.

Rangers, on the other hand, lost to Aberdeen on the same night and will be without the suspended Alfredo Morelos, who picked up a red card.

Rough feels that Dundee’s win will boost the players’ confidence ahead of their clash against Steven Gerrard’s side, but they will need to start the game well on Sunday.

“To get a result like that [against Hamilton] everyone will be on a high”, Rough said on PLZ Soccer.

“The dressing room will be great leading up to the game, even before the game the players will be absolutely buzzing.

“It’s how they start the game.

“It’s how they go about it and obviously stop Rangers from scoring early on because again if you let the Old Firm score early on, nine times out of ten they will end up winners.

“But they will go into the game with a lot more confidence after what they have had in the past three or four weeks."

Rangers have lost their last two away games against Dundee and will hope to change that come Sunday.

Dundee are on a three-game unbeaten run in the Premiership that has seen them move within one point of nearest rivals St. Mirren in the table.
