Celtic legend Chris Sutton feels that the Hoops’ arch-rivals Rangers have the best striker and goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership, but it will not matter in the end if both of them are not on the pitch.

Allan McGregor and Alfredo Morelos have been two of the most consistent players in their position and have been a key cog in the Rangers side this season.

Rangers have scored the most number of goals in the league this season, but could not breach Aberdeen’s defence on Wednesday as the Gers lost 1-0 at Ibrox.

Morelos, who has had disciplinary problems this season, was sent off for the second time in the league against Aberdeen and will miss the Gers’ next two Premiership games.

Sutton believes that Celtic will still win the league this season and for Rangers to push the Hoops all the way, they will have to do something about Morelos’ indiscipline.

“I think Celtic will win the league but I can’t say I’m 100 per cent certain”, Sutton wrote in his column for the Daily Record.

“That’s down to the strength of the league and areas of concern in the Celtic team, particularly up front.

“Kilmarnock have gone top and the fact they are in the mix shows the incredible job Steve Clarke has done.

“I don’t think they can win the league but everyone said that about Leicester.

“Then you have Rangers who in Allan McGregor have the best keeper in the league and the best striker in Alfredo Morelos, although they have to keep both on the park to mount a serious title challenge.

“The Colombian’s indiscipline is ridiculous.

“There must come a point, after his red card in the Dons defeat, where Steven Gerrard realises he can’t rely on him as he’s such a loose cannon.”

Rangers will take on the Premiership’s bottom-placed team Dundee on Sunday and will hope to return to winning ways after the midweek defeat.
