Hugo Lloris insists Tottenham Hotspur deserve their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League after a hard fought 1-1 draw in the Camp Nou against Barcelona.

Spurs needed to match or better Inter's result against PSV Eindhoven in order to progress at the expense of the Italians and despite falling behind in Spain, fought back to secure a 1-1 draw courtesy of a goal from substitute Lucas Moura five minutes from time.

It was no less than Tottenham deserved as they applied real pressure on the Barcelona defence, with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son going close to scoring.

With PSV Eindhoven holding Inter to a 1-1 draw in Italy, the point in Spain was enough for Spurs to progress and Lloris is sure they deserved it.

"We had the help of PSV that is true and it was difficult after the early goal, but we stuck with our principles and played a very good performance", the Spurs goalkeeper said on BT Sport after the game.

"We did not win but we went through. That is the most important thing.

"The spirit was fantastic. We deserve it.

"The fans made such a noise that I knew we had gone through", Lloris added.

The result means that Tottenham have become only the eighth side to ever reach the last 16 after taking only one point from their first three group stage games.
