AC Milan are waiting for Chelsea to lower their financial demands before they seek to open decisive talks to sign Cesc Fabregas in January.

Fabregas is out of contract at the end of the season and he is being heavily courted by Serie A giants AC Milan at the moment.

While he is available on a free transfer next summer, the Rossoneri want to sign the Spaniard in January and have already been in touch with his entourage over a contract.

AC Milan are prepared to offer him a two-and-a-half-year deal and are confident of agreeing on personal terms, but Chelsea are said to be demanding a fee in excess of €10m for Fabregas.

The Rossoneri remain very much interested in getting a deal over the line, but according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, they are waiting for Chelsea to lower their financial demands.

AC Milan are not ready to spend such a sum on a player who is expected to be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Rossoneri are prepared to send a delegation to London to close out an agreement but won’t move until Chelsea agree to accept a lower transfer fee.

They believe they could already be pushing the limits when it comes to accepting Fabregas’ high wage demands.
