Rangers are aware of the fact that Sporting Lisbon youngster Ryan Gauld will be available in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Record, but there is not yet any indication of whether the Gers might move for him.

Gauld, who joined Sporting Lisbon from Dundee United in 2014, has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the first team at the Estadio Jose Alvalade and is currently out on loan at Farense in the second division in Portugal.

The loan agreement is for the season allows Guald to move elsewhere in January if there is an offer from a club in a top flight.

The move to Farense in the summer was the attacking midfielder’s third loan stint since arriving in the Portuguese capital and Gauld has yet to justify his price-tag following a switch away from his homeland.

Rangers know that Gauld will be available and it has been claimed Sporting Lisbon would also be open to a permanent transfer.

But despite the Gers wanting to make signings in January, it is not clear if they are looking at a move for Gauld.
