Samu Saiz is poised to sign for Spanish La Liga club Getafe on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, it has been claimed.

The midfielder joined Leeds in 2017 from Spanish second tier club Huesca and has become a key man at Elland Road.

But Getafe want to take Saiz back to Spain and amid reports that the midfielder wants to go home, it has now been claimed that the deal is close to happening.

According to French magazine France Football, Getafe are on the verge of completing the deal which will see Saiz join on loan until the summer.

Getafe will also have an option to make the 27-year-old's switch permanent, should the move work out for both parties.

Saiz has found the going tougher at Leeds this season, despite the Whites flying high in the Championship.

He has scored just once in 20 appearances across all competitions for the Whites and is now set to swap the Yorkshire giants for Getafe, based in his hometown of Madrid, and where he has played before, for the club's B team.

The move will give Saiz the chance to play La Liga football, with the midfielder having only clocked 14 minutes in Spain's top flight, for Getafe, in 2014.
