Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has remained coy over a potential swoop for a goalkeeper in January in a bid to replace the injured Jamal Blackman at Elland Road.
Blackman, who joined the Whites on a season-long deal from Chelsea in the summer, suffered a broken tibia while playing for Leeds United Under-23s last month.
The 25-year-old was restricted to just two appearances in the EFL Cup with the first team under Bielsa before his injury, but was a regular for Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side.
However, the injury has forced Blackman to return to Chelsea for treatment and the situation now means that Leeds are short on cover for first-choice goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
The Whites are running thin in the goalkeeping department, with only the inexperienced Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek ready to replace Peacock-Farrell in case of an emergency.
Despite their lack of depth in the department, Bielsa has remained coy on the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper during the transfer window in January.
“No news about it [the possibility of signing a goalkeeper in January]”, Bielsa said in a press conference.
“The information I could give you regarding transfers is I see the importance the media give to this subject and if I had any news I would tell you about it.
“It’s not a task I realise because I’m not a specialist.
"I usually don’t rely on hypothesis.
"Until now I have no news on the possibility of a goalkeeper.
“Of course, if I had any news on that I would comment immediately.”
Leeds will next face relegation battlers Bolton Wanderers in an away game on Saturday in the Championship.
