Reading are currently looking to appoint a foreign manager and there is no truth to talk they are in for Bolton Wanderers boss Phil Parkinson, it has been claimed.

The Royals recently parted ways with Paul Clement and are looking to appoint his successor as they bid to climb away from the danger zone in the Championship.

They have been linked with Bolton boss Parkinson but, according to the Bolton News, there is nothing in the claims, despite the Trotters boss having his backers down south.

Instead Reading are looking to bring in a foreign manager.

The Royals sit third from bottom in the Championship standings and Clement paid the price for going on a run of four games without a win.

He was followed out of the door by sporting director Gianluca Nani, who had only been appointed four months previously.

Reading are next in action away at Rotherham at the weekend, while Parkinson's Bolton lock horns with second placed Leeds United.
