Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente has conceded that he would like to return to Athletic Bilbao if the opportunity presents itself.

Llorente has been relegated to being a bit part player at Tottenham and has clocked just 143 minutes across seven appearances in all competitions this season.

Tottenham signed the Spaniard as a back-up to Harry Kane last year, but the striker has failed to impress and has scored just six goals in 38 appearances for the club.

Ahead of the January window, there are rumours over his future at Tottenham and Llorente admits that he wants to feel valued in a team again.

A return to Athletic Bilbao has long been floated and Llorente admits he would be happy if the chance to return to the club arose.

“My priority is to feel important in the team”, the striker told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.

“If I have the opportunity and they want to talk to me, then yes, I would like to go back.”

However, the 33-year-old conceded that it is not down to him to decide whether he will leave Tottenham and advised his suitors to approach Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

“Leaving in the January window doesn’t depend on me.

“Athletic would have to talk to Tottenham and Daniel Levy.”
