Quinton Fortune has urged the Manchester United to players to fix their mindset and change their approach ahead of Sunday’s visit to Liverpool.

Manchester United are going into the game at the weekend on the back of a poor performance at Valencia, where they squandered an opportunity to top their Champions League group.

Liverpool are unbeaten in the league this season thus far and are sitting at the top of the Premier League table, while Manchester United continue to languish in sixth in the Premier League.

A 16-point gap exists between the two sides, but Fortune believes Manchester United can score an unlikely win at Anfield on Sunday as they have the ability to do so.

He insisted if the Manchester United players fix their attitude towards the game and make sure they put in maximum effort on the pitch, they have the talent to get a result against the Premier League table toppers.

Fortune, following Wednesday night's game, said on MUTV when asked what Manchester United need to win at Anfield: “By changing the mindset and they have got to believe in themselves.

“Forget about tonight as soon as possible and learn that against Liverpool we need to pick up the tempo.

“If we show passion the game will take care of itself, but we need to be much better when it comes to the way we approach the game, be on the front foot, win second balls and the ability will take care of itself.

“We know that we have the ability.

“I believe we can beat Liverpool but something’s got to change from now until Sunday.”

Manchester United earned a point from a 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield last season.
