Former Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson says that sending Malmo into the last 32 of the Europa League is "absolutely unreal" as he starts to pay back the fee the Swedish side paid to the Whites for his services.

With a spot last in the last 32 at stake, Malmo went to Istanbul knowing that a win at Besiktas would take them into the next round of the competition.

After a goalless first-half, the match was on a knife edge, but Antonsson, signed from Leeds in the summer, made the difference after the break and scored the only goal of the game in the 51st minute.

His strike took the Swedish giants to the last 32 and the former White admits that it was the biggest game of his career thus far, with the whole evening unreal.

Antonsson was confident that he would go on to make a difference if he got a chance and admits that it was great to score the goal that helped his side to progress in Europe.

“That’s the biggest game I have been in. It is great to be part of this team”, the striker told Swedish broadcaster Kanal 9.

“It was absolutely unreal.

"I said at half-time that if I get a chance I will take care of it.

“It was wonderful to see the ball roll into the goal.”

Antonsson impressed on loan at Blackburn Rovers from Leeds last season and a number of Whites fans were hopeful he would get his chance back at Elland Road.

However, Leeds opted to sell him to Malmo, where he plays under former Whites boss Uwe Rosler.
