Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda has claimed that he should be back at Vitesse towards the end of January as he seeks to return from a knee injury.

Musonda joined the Dutch club last summer on a season-long loan deal, but had to return to his parent club without playing a competitive game after suffering a knee injury.

The Belgian has been recovering and undergoing his rehabilitation under the watchful eye of the Chelsea doctors and is desperate to return to action on the pitch soon.

He admits that he suffered some setbacks on his path to recovery, but is confident that he will be fit enough to join the Vitesse squad again towards the end of January.

“I have had some misfortune”, the Chelsea talent told Belgian daily De Gelderlander.

“But I am on schedule now and according to the schedule, I should be fit by the third week of January.

“So I should join the squad again after the Vitesse training camp in Portugal.”

He was initially slated to return to Vitesse in November but his recovery did not go according to plan and Musonda admits that the delay has been a source of much frustration.

However, the winger is certain that he is now on the right path to recovery and should be back in the Netherlands soon.

When asked about the delay in his recovery, Musonda said: “That was annoying because as a top athlete you lack patience.

“I’ve been working hard on returning for months and now it’s going in the right direction.”
