Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has warned Manchester United that Jurgen Klopp's side could blow them away at Anfield on Sunday.

The Red Devils will be aiming to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat at Valencia in midweek when they take the trip to Merseyside, but are expected to face a herculean task if they are to avoid another loss.

Klopp’s men are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League and head into the encounter as strong favourites, owing to their impressive start to the new season.

Furthermore, the two teams are separated by a massive 16 points in the league table at the moment and the gap could extend even more if the visitors wilt under the pressure from the Kop.

Nicol, who won the European Cup with Liverpool, has warned Manchester United if they do not change their ways they could be blown away.

The former Reds defender also added that the league table serves a good reminder of how things have worked out for both teams.

“If you look at the Premier League table, Liverpool are at the top for a reason and Manchester United are floundering for a reason”, Nicol said on ESPN FC.

“And it’s not that the two sides have been coming into a derby like this with contrasting form, that’s happened a lot.

“But before, you were always guaranteed that either United or Liverpool would have fight and desire and kick and punch, and no matter what it took, the intensity, just because of the size of this fixture.

“I’m not so sure United have got that and they haven’t shown it yet this season at all in any game whatsoever.

“In fact, most games they end up being a couple of goals down before they start.

"You can’t do that against Liverpool and if they do, they will get blown away.”

Liverpool have conceded the least amount of goals in the Premier League in six, while Manchester United have let in 26.
