Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed that he will make sure he keeps his eyes peeled to add players to the squad in the quickly approaching January transfer window.

The Old Firm giants crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday after conceding a late goal during the 1-0 defeat to Rapid Vienna at the Allianz Stadion.

Despite showing plenty of character and fighting spirit throughout the campaign, the Gers fell short in the end as they finished third behind leaders Villarreal and Rapid Vienna in Group G.

Gerrard, who took over in the summer, had conceded after the game that his side lacked a bit of quality to make it to the knockout stages in the end, despite making as many as 15 signings in the summer.

The Rangers boss is looking to do business in January if the right options present themselves.

But he insists he will not embark upon wholesale squad changes at Ibrox in the middle of the season.

“There won't be wholesale changes in January”, Gerrard told reporters in a press conference.

“If there are opportunities to bring in a player or a couple of players that can improve the squad we will look to make that happen.

“It is important we always look to identify players going forward.”

Rangers will return to action on Sunday when they face Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox.
