Former Premier League midfielder Gus Poyet insists that it will be difficult for Liverpool to replicate Arsenal’s Invincibles season.

The Gunners went the whole 2003/04 Premier League campaign unbeaten as they picked up 26 wins and 12 draws to win the Premier League title

Manchester City threatened to repeat the feat for a while in the 2017/18 season, but their unbeaten record came to an end against Liverpool.

This season, Liverpool are the only club yet to lose a game in the Premier League and some have begun to wonder if they could go unbeaten for the campaign as the Gunners did.

Poyet, who played for Arsenal’s arch-rivals Tottenham in the 2003/04 season, feels going an entire season unbeaten is difficult in the Premier League at the moment and is not sure Liverpool can match the unique feat.

“It was incredible because everybody was expecting them [Arsenal] to lose next week and when we were close, next week, and it never happened", Poyet said on beIN Sports.

“And now, it was looking that maybe Manchester City [first], and Liverpool will have the chance to do it, but it’s tough.

“The Premier League is unique. That Arsenal team was totally unique.

“I think it’s going to be very difficult for another team in the Premier League to go unbeaten."

Liverpool are hoping to end a near three-decade wait for the elusive Premier League title and will next take on Manchester United on Sunday.
