Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has insisted he has had enough experience of playing in fiery derbies ahead of Manchester United’s Anfield visit.

Currently, at the top of the league table, Merseyside giants are going into Sunday’s game as favourites to win and further push Manchester United’s season into trouble.

Jurgen Klopp has stressed the quality Manchester United possess despite their current predicament, but few are expecting Jose Mourinho’s side to pull off a shock result, despite not losing in any of their last eight league games against Liverpool.

Alisson is aware of the rivalry that exists between two clubs and is keen to experience the atmosphere, but insisted that he has had enough experience of playing in such games.

“The two clubs I played for previously, Internacional and Roma, they had two major derbies so I’m used to derbies and, worldwide, the Liverpool-United rivalry is well known”, the goalkeeper told the Times.

“We were very familiar with it in Brazil, more aware of it than of the Liverpool and Everton rivalry given the size of the two clubs, but knowing about it and experiencing it are two different things.

“I can’t wait to experience it and some beautiful football.”

Alisson believes Sunday’s game is as important as the Napoli one in midweek and stressed the importance of getting a win in order to maintain Liverpool’s momentum.

He continued: “The game against Napoli was really special, we had to get a specific result and were pushed on by the supporters.

“I don’t think Sunday will be any different. It’s a really important game in terms of our aspirations to win the title.

“We need the win, we will have the support to do that and to continue with our excellent trajectory.”
