Liverpool have sent a good signal to Rangers following the end of Ovie Ejaria's loan at the Scottish club, insisting they are sure it was "extremely beneficial" for the midfielder.

Ejaria linked up with Rangers on a season-long loan deal in the summer as Gers boss Steven Gerrard used his contacts at Anfield to full effect.

Gerrard handed the 21-year-old regular game time at Ibrox, but Ejaria struggled to settle in Scotland and became keen to end the loan and return to Liverpool.

His loan has now been ended following discussions between the two clubs, but Liverpool insist that Ejaria's time in Scotland has been to his benefit.

Liverpool said in a statement confirming the loan is over: "Liverpool would like to thank Steven Gerrard, his staff and everybody at Rangers for helping the 21-year-old develop and improve during his time at Ibrox – an experience the club believe has been extremely beneficial for his career."

The Premier League club's happiness with Rangers' work with Ejaria will be a boost to the Scottish club, who may look to do more such loan deals with Liverpool; the Gers have regularly been linked with striker Dominic Solanke.

At Rangers, Ejaria had the chance to play in the Europa League.

He played his part in helping Rangers to qualify for the group stage of the tournament and produced a superb strike in an away clash against FC Ufa in Russia.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will look to loan Ejaria out again in the quickly approaching January transfer window.
