Leeds United first-team coach Carlos Corberan feels that the Whites need to keep their feet on the ground and take it game by game in the Championship after they returned to the top of the league table on Saturday.

A Patrick Bamford goal helped Leeds to a 1-0 victory over Bolton and a favourable result involving Norwich City elsewhere meant the Whites returned to the top of the pile.

Leeds have picked up five successive wins and with just one game to go before the half way stage in the Championship, Corberan feels it is important for the team not to get carried away and take one step at a time.

“Our focus will have to be game by game, because every game is very difficult. We have to prepare [for] every game”, Corberan told LUTV.

“We have to try to control, to come to the pitch and feel more comfortable to show the quality of our players.

“So I think this is the only focus now.

“Going game by game, being focused and only thinking in every game.

“Of course when you are winning and are at the top of the table it is always positive because it means that you won the previous game, but that’s all.

“Now we are not yet at the halfway mark of the league, close to it, and have to continue being focused, playing game by game, because I think it’s something very positive.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been consistent in the first half of the season and have managed promotion expectations so far.

Leeds will next travel to Villa Park and take on Aston Villa next weekend and will hope to finish the first half of the season on top of the Championship table.
