Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that the club will try to win the Premier League title this season after going close in previous seasons.

Pochettino’s side have had their best start to a Premier League season and are five points behind current league leaders Manchester City, though that gap could increase to six if Liverpool win their game in hand on Sunday.

Spurs picked up a late 1-0 win against Burnley on Saturday to make it 13 wins in 17 league games, and have managed to keep up with Liverpool and Manchester City, two teams who are seen as the more likely candidates to lift the title in May.

The north London outfit have made good progress under Pochettino and the manager, while not predicting a title win, says the team will do everything they can to try and compete for it.

“I don't want to say that [we can win the title] because afterwards people will twist my words and yes I can tell you that all is possible in football and all can happen", Pochettino told a press conference after the win against Burnley.

“We are going to try, like previous seasons we try always to win.

“Maybe this season it can happen, but the most important thing is to try and give your best."

Tottenham will take on Arsenal in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Wednesday and will hope to avenge their 4-2 defeat against the Gunners earlier this month.
