Aston Villa boss Dean Smith feels his side have what it takes to beat Leeds United when the two sides square off next weekend.

The Villans have been in impressive form of late, having won four out of their last seven games in the Championship, and are unbeaten since losing to QPR in late October.

Since Smith’s arrival, Aston Villa have jumped from 17th to eighth in the league table and have the promotion playoff spots in their sights.

The Lions’ upcoming opponents, Leeds, are on a good run of form as well and have five successive games to return to the top of the table.

Smith, however, has revealed that his team are looking forward to the big test and believes they can beat Leeds.

“It’s another one we’re looking forward to”, Smith told Aston Villa’s official website in the aftermath of his side's 2-2 draw against Stoke City on Saturday.

“It’s Leeds United at home in front of another close to full house.

“They are in the top two doing well.

"But we believe we can beat them."

Aston Villa are just three points behind Middlesbrough, who are sixth in the league table, and will hope to close the gap on the sides above them next weekend.
