Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard insists that the Blues want to be at the top of the table after they picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Pedro and Eden Hazard scored to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead before half time, but Solly March pulled one back in the second half to make it a nervy ending for the Blues.

Maurizio Sarri’s side opened up a three-point gap over their nearest rivals in the Premier League table Arsenal, but Hazard has admitted that the Blues want to be close to Manchester City and Liverpool.

"We want to be top of the league at the end of the season.

“We know Man City and Liverpool are good teams – we don’t want the gap to be big", Hazard said on Sky Sports following the game.

The Belgian, who played in a false nine role against the Seagulls, also said he does not mind playing up front instead of his natural position on the left.

"I always play with the same ability and quality.

“As a winger and striker I just try to enjoy my football", Hazard added.

Chelsea will shift their focus to the EFL Cup quarter-final next, as they take on Bournemouth on Wednesday.
