Leeds United and Chelsea face an anxious time after Izzy Brown was forced off with an injury during an Under-23 clash this afternoon.

Brown has been working his way back from a cruciate knee ligament injury and hopes have been high that he is close to a return to first team action.

Leeds named him in the starting eleven for their Under-23 meeting with Barnsley on Monday afternoon, as he continued to clock up game time.

But, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Brown was forced off through injury.

The midfielder looked at his knee, though his hamstring could have been the issue, and was instantly helped back inside by head of medical Rob Price.

He was replaced in the game by Tyler Roberts.

Leeds have been banking on Brown to return to action in the new year, especially as they are set to loan Samu Saiz to Getafe.

Saiz is unsettled in England and is set to move to La Liga side Getafe on loan with an option to buy.

Leeds and Brown's parent club Chelsea now face a tense wait to see how bad his injury is.
