Leeds United have eased injury fears over Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown, who was forced off during the course of an Under-23s clash against Barnsley on Monday afternoon.

Brown has not yet played a game for Leeds and joined the club in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea while still recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.

He was named in Leeds' Under-23s side on Monday afternoon, but was brought off injured.

There were concerns that he could have suffered a major setback in his recovery but, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds have confirmed Brown simply has a tight hamstring.

The midfielder will now be monitored over the next 24 hours, but Leeds do not believe the niggle is serious.

Leeds are banking on Brown returning to fitness and first team action in the new year, especially with the impending departure of Samu Saiz.

Saiz is set to sign for La Liga club Getafe on loan and, signed as the Spaniard's backup, Brown will be expected to step up.

Leeds have not yet started to cover Brown's wages, due to an agreement with Chelsea which means they will only do so when he is fit to play.
