Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has revealed that Jadon Sancho has told him all about Borussia Dortmund and their progress so far this season.

Spurs were drawn against the Bundesliga leaders during the Champions League Round of 16 draw held in Switzerland on Monday, after booking their berth in the knockout stages behind leaders Barcelona in Group B.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men required a bit of help from PSV Eindhoven to edge past Inter Milan on matchday six, but have ultimately qualified for the next round nonetheless.

The north Londoners are expected to face a stern test against Borussia Dortmund, who they met in the group stages of the competition last season, as they aim to do better than the Round of 16 exit last term.

Winks, who came up through the ranks at Tottenham, admitted that he has been talking with Sancho and revealed that the Dortmund winger told him all about the Bundesliga outfit and their performances this season.

The midfielder also admitted that it will be a tough game, but reiterated Spurs need to beat the best teams if they wish to win the Champions League.

“They have been doing really well in the league this year”, Winks told the club’s official website.

“I’ve been speaking to Jadon Sancho and he’s been telling me what kind of side they are and how well they’re doing.

“They are a side we have to treat carefully and prepare well for as they are going to be a very dangerous team to play against, especially at their place.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to progress. It’s the Champions League and if you want to win it, you have to beat the best teams.”

Tottenham will be working towards being able to host the first leg against Borussia Dortmund at the new White Hart Lane in February.
