Alexis Sanchez has dismissed reports that he sent a celebratory text to Marcos Rojo after Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho reportedly fell out with several players by the time Manchester United sacked him earlier this week and it appeared a number were not enjoying playing under him.

Sanchez was one of the players who failed to excel under Mourinho and has struggled to justify his top wages since joining Manchester United last January from Arsenal.

The Chilean has been recovering from a hamstring injury but there are suggestions he was one of the players who felt much relief after Mourinho was sacked.

There are rumours that he sent a celebratory text, mentioning winning a bet about Mourinho being sacked, but Sanchez has completely denied the reports.

He insisted that he remains grateful towards his former manager for bringing him to Manchester United.

The forward also stressed that the Manchester United squad are very much united and are prepared to move forward in the coming months.

He took to Twitter with a photo of the report and wrote: “This is FALSE!!!

“Jose gave me the chance to play for the best team in the world and I have only gratitude for him.

“We are truly a United team.

“We are MANCHESTER UNITED. Respect.

“I can't wait to help the team! Good luck tomorrow family!"

Sanchez will hope to reignite his Manchester United career under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once he returns from his injury.
