Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti has stressed the importance of Manchester United target Milan Skriniar at the San Siro by claiming that the defender is “perfect”.

Skriniar, who joined Inter from Sampdoria in the summer of 2017, has quickly established himself as a central figure at the club with his impressive performances.

The Slovak has been linked with a number of clubs, including Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Inter have been trying to lock him down on a new deal.

However, the 23-year-old has yet to agree on fresh terms with Inter after contract negotiations stalled.

Despite the interest from a number of potential suitors, Spalletti has signalled that the centre-back is essential to Inter's fortunes.

"Skriniar is a pillar of the side”, Spalletti was quoted as saying by beIN Sports.

"For me, he's perfect.”

Spalletti also joked about Skriniar’s only drawback being his first name by insisting that the club are working on changing it at the moment.

"If he has one drawback, it's his first name and we're working on it!”, he added.

Skriniar, who is under contract with Inter until 2022, has earned 23 caps for Slovakia.
