Scott Sinclair has conceded that it will be a challenge for Celtic to make sure they are their best against Rangers on Saturday.

Celtic have a three-point lead at the top of the table over Rangers going into Saturday’s Glasgow derby at Ibrox, having played a game fewer than Steven Gerrard’s side.

The Scottish champions are going into the game on the back of a thrilling 4-3 win away at Aberdeen, while Rangers conceded a late goal to throw away two points against Hibernian at home on Boxing Day.

Sinclair admits that it is close at the top of the table, but feels it is an opportunity for Celtic to continue to improve and win games in order to build a gap over the other sides.

"You can see the table is tight", the winger told BBC Scotland.

"At the top of the table, there's only room to improve and to keep doing well and to keep winning.”

Sinclair is aware of the challenge that his side will face at Ibrox but believes it is up to Celtic to make sure that they maintain their level against their local rivals in the derby.

"It's going to be a challenge.

“It's up to us to go there, play our normal game, create chances and make sure we do get the three points."
