Liverpool and Manchester United defensive target Eder Militao has emerged as an option for Roma ahead of the January transfer window.

The Brazilian centre-back joined FC Porto last summer from Sao Paulo and a strong showing in the first half of the season has led to speculation over his future at the club.

Militao has been on Manchester United’s shortlist of defensive targets and the club are believed to be considering making a move for him in the January transfer window, while Liverpool are now reported to have entered the chase.

However, the Premier League pair could face significant competition for his signature from other sides, and Militao has been attracting interest from Italy.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, Roma are interested in bringing in a defender in January and Militao is a player the club are closely looking at as an option for next month.

Roma have been keeping tabs on the 20-year-old and club sporting director Monchi has been weighing up the possibility of signing the young defender in January.

Militao has a release clause of €50m in the five-year contract he signed with Porto last summer.

And the Portuguese giants have already confirmed that they are trying to negotiate a new deal with the player in order to increase the value of the buy-out clause.
