Celtic legend John Hartson believes that a deal is done for Timothy Weah to join from Paris Saint-Germain, however has urged the club not to stop at signing the American.

The Hoops have been linked with Weah and are reportedly closing in on a loan deal to take him from PSG.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were short on options up front before the winter break and had to utilise Michael Johnston in a makeshift centre-forward role in the 1-0 defeat against Rangers.

Leigh Griffiths has taken time off to address of the pitch issues and it is unclear for how long Celtic will miss out on the Scotland international’s services.

Odsonne Edouard has managed to score nine goals in 18 Scottish Premiership games since joining from PSG in the summer of 2018 and is the club’s leading scorer.

Hartson thinks Edouard will soon have Weah for company, but Celtic should also add someone else.

“Timothy Weah looks like a done deal with it simply a matter of when rather than if he arrives but at just 18, I think Celtic still need another forward in”, Hartson wrote in his column for the Evening Times.

“We don’t know when Leigh Griffiths will be back and nor do we know the extent of Odsonne Edouard’s injury.

“In saying that, I think that Brendan will have regretted his choice not to start with Odsonne on Saturday, whether he was struggling or not.”

Celtic are currently top of the Premiership table, but only by virtue of goal difference as they are level on points with arch-rivals Rangers.
