Gianfranco Zola has insisted that teenage attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi has a future at Chelsea despite interest from German champions Bayern Munich.

A product of the Chelsea academy, the young attacker is considered one of the top young talents at the club, but the Blues are in danger of losing him in the coming months.

Hudson-Odoi has played just one game in the Premier League this season and Maurizio Sarri has not shown any enthusiasm to involve him in his matchday squads in the league.

German champions Bayern Munich are said to be interested in snaring him away from Stamford Bridge in January and have tabled bids up to £30m.

The youngster is expected to feature for Chelsea in the FA Cup and Zola indicated that he must bide his time and look to improve before expecting regular minutes on the pitch.

But the Chelsea assistant manager is certain that Hudson-Odoi has a long-term future at the club.

Zola said in a press conference via Chelsea TV, when asked about the young winger: “For 18 years old he has a lot of potential.

“You have to understand the journey is not finished, he has to have a good attitude.

"It is not important he plays straight away, it is about developing.

“He has to keep an open mind to improve.

“I believe we can help him, develop him and I believe he has a future in this club.”

Hudson-Odoi has a contract until the end of next season with Chelsea.
