Former Premier League attacker John Barnes believes Callum Hudson-Odoi might not get the warmest of welcomes at Bayern Munich if he signs for the Bavarians.

The Chelsea attacker has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in pursuit of a clearer pathway to regular first team football.

Bayern Munich are expected to add some fresh faces to their squad after falling behind Borussia Dortmund in the first half of the Bundesliga season.

Hudson-Odoi has made just one Premier League appearance for Chelsea this season, but Barnes feels a move to Bayern Munich, where the player power often reigns supreme, might hurt the teenager.

“It may not work for him”, Barnes said on beIN SPORTS on Saturday.

“We know what big characters [Arjen] Robben and [Franck] Ribery are and I don’t think they’d take too kindly being ousted by an 18-year old boy."

And Liverpool legend Barnes thinks Hudson-Odoi should stay with the Blues.

“Maybe in one or two years, possibly.

"I think it would be a mistake for him to leave Chelsea now."

Robben and Ribery have ruled the roost at the Allianz Arena, but Bayern Munich are looking for young blood.

Hudson-Odoi’s chances for Chelsea this season have come in the Europa League, where he has made four appearances and has scored once in the process, and in domestic cup competitions.
