New Celtic signing Oliver Burke says he is sure he can develop under Brendan Rodgers and the Northern Irishman was a big factor in his loan move to the club.

The 21-year-old has been snapped up by the Scottish champions on loan from Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion until the end of the season, though there is no purchase option in the agreement.

The Baggies have been on the lookout to send the youngster out on loan for him to get more first-team action, with the player insisting that Celtic Park is the ideal place for him to grow.

Burke revealed that he spoke with Rodgers and is convinced that his development can continue under the Northern Irishman.

"A telephone call with the gaffer really influenced me in coming here and joining such a great club", the winger said on Celtic TV.

"He is a fantastic manager and I am looking forward to developing under him and getting better and better each day.

"That is one of the key reasons I came here.

"I know that I am going to develop and become a better player under him, if I listen and work hard."

He also represented Scotland at different youth levels before being handed his senior debut in 2016.
