Italian Serie A side Parma lost out to Celtic in the chase for striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

Celtic completed the signing of the Ivory Coast international on Tuesday, subject to a work permit and medical, and he has penned a four-year contract with the Bhoys.

However, Celtic were not the only club to have noted Bayo's goalscoring feats at Slovakian outfit Dunajska Streda.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Parma were also keen to snap up the 21-year-old.

Parma are sitting in eleventh spot in the Serie A standings, but want to boost their firepower after scoring just 17 goals in 19 top flight games.

Bayo scored 18 goals in 23 games this season for Dunajska Streda.

He will soon be able to put his nose for goal at the disposal of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, as the Bhoys look to pull away from Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.

Celtic are currently at a warm weather training camp in Dubai.
