Chelsea are yet to finalise an agreement to sell Cesc Fabregas to Monaco as they continue to seek a replacement for the Spaniard.

The former Barcelona man left the pitch in tears at the weekend as he played what has been assumed to be his last game for Chelsea, as he travelled to Monaco to complete his transfer to the Stade Louis II this month.

The 31-year-old has already agreed on the terms of a contract with Monaco and the Principality club are hopeful of completing the transfer in the coming days.

But the club have continued to hold talks with Chelsea and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the two clubs are yet to finalise an agreement for the transfer.

Both the clubs want to conclude an agreement soon but Chelsea are keen to bring in a replacement before they officially decide to sell Fabregas to Monaco.

They have been linked with a move for Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella but for the moment the club are still looking for the perfect replacement.

Monaco want to get the deal over the line as soon as possible and even planned to make Fabregas undergo a medical soon, but according to the Daily Telegraph, he has returned to London as Chelsea are yet to sign off on the deal.

The Ligue 1 giants do remain confident of signing Fabregas however.
