Brazilian outfit Flamengo are in pole position to secure the signature of West Ham target Gabigol in the transfer window this month.

Inter spent big money to sign the striker from Santos in 2016, but following a disappointing first season, he was loaned out to Benfica in the summer of 2017.

Gabigol returned to Santos on another loan last year and recently headed back to Inter, but the club have made it clear that he is not part of their plans going forward.

He has been heavily linked with a move to England, with West Ham one of several Premier League sides to be mooted as being interested in Gabigol.

But according to Sky Italia, Gabigol could return to Brazil this month as Flamengo have raced past his other suitors in the chase to sign him from the Nerazzurri.

The Brazilian outfit are in pole position to secure his signature and the striker could again return to his homeland on another loan deal from the Serie A giants.
