Inter are probing the possibility of signing Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri on a loan deal during the transfer window this month.

The defender joined Chelsea from Roma in January last year, but is yet to carve out a niche for himself in the starting eleven and has made just 18 appearances for the club.

He has played just 13 minutes of Premier League football this season and is some way away from displacing Marcos Alonso as Chelsea’s first choice left-back.

Emerson could have an option to return to Italy in January as the former Roma defender remains a much-coveted talent in Serie A.

And according to Italian daily La Repubblica, Inter are considering the possibility of getting their hands on the Chelsea full-back on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian is also on their radar, but the Red Devils are only expected to listen to offers for a permanent transfer.

Budgetary constraints mean Inter do not have the money to sign a full-back on a permanent deal and therefore they are eyeing a loan move for Emerson.

However, Chelsea could decide against letting him go as Emerson remains one of the few options who can operate as back-up to Alonso at left-back in their squad.
