Marcelo Bielsa is not interested in taking Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who has been linked with Nottingham Forest, to Leeds United during the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

Leeds are currently at the top of the Championship pile, but back-to-back defeats in the league have led to some soul-searching around Elland Road and their prospects of promotion.

The general opinion is that Leeds need reinforcements in January in order to sustain their challenge to return to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Whites are believed to be eyeing bringing a goalkeeper in order to compete for a place in the team with Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who has been inconsistent between the sticks this season.

Heaton, who has only made just two league appearances this season and has been linked with Nottingham Forest, is believed to be a target for Leeds, but according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he is not on the Whites’ radar.

It has been claimed that Bielsa is not particularly a fan of the 32-year-old goalkeeper and is not considering bringing him to Elland Road in January.

Leeds are still said to be in the market for a more experienced goalkeeper, but Heaton is unlikely to be wearing their jersey by the end of the month.

The news may be a boost to Nottingham Forest, who have one fewer club to battle for Heaton.

The goalkeeper has a contract until 2020 with Burnley.
