Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has expressed his excitement with the signing of Kasey Palmer on loan from Chelsea by admitting he is excited about what the player can offer to the team.

Palmer, who spent the first half of the ongoing season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, netted three goals in 17 appearances for Rovers before being recalled by Chelsea.

The 22-year-old has been quickly loaned out again to Bristol City and will link up with his new team-mates at Ashton Gate as the Robins prepare to face Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Johnson expressed his excitement following the signing of Palmer and insisted it feels good to get their man so early on in the window.

“I’m delighted we have been able to sign Kasey Palmer on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season and it’s great to get this done so early in the window”, Johnson told the club’s official website.

The Robins’ boss also admitted that Palmer’s versatility will be useful during the second half of the season and revealed he is excited about what the Chelsea loanee can offer to the squad.

“Kasey is a very good player who can play through the middle and out wide; he can create openings as well as score goals and I’m excited about what he can bring to our squad”, he continued.

“We’ve got 20 scheduled league games left, plus the FA Cup, and Kasey will be able to help us continue the momentum we have built.”

Palmer, who has won the FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League and the U21 Premier League with Chelsea, has been handed the number 45 shirt at Bristol City.
