Leeds United have been handed a transfer blow as Hoffenheim midfielder Steven Zuber has joined Stuttgart on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Zuber has been linked with a move to Leeds this month, but has decided to remain in Germany and help Markus Weinzierl's side retain their top flight status in the second half of the season.

Leeds are expected to do business this month and have just lost another midfield option as Lewis Baker has headed back to Chelsea – but Zuber will not be moving to England.

Zuber started just six times in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim this season, as Julian Nagelsmann has preferred using Nico Schulz in the left wing-back role.

Stuttgart are currently in the relegation playoff spots and are the division’s lowest scorers, and will hope Zuber’s addition might add more creativity to the attack.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been struck with frequent injuries this season and Zuber’s versatility could have added another aspect to the Leeds squad.
