Rangers new boy Jermain Defoe had interest from Crystal Palace, offering a route to stay in the Premier League.
The Gers have snapped up the veteran striker on an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth, with the Cherries reserving the right to recall him in the summer or next January.
Defoe struggled for playing time under Eddie Howe at Bournemouth this season but could have stayed in the Premier League, with the striker telling Sky Sports News that he had interest from Crystal Palace.
However, Defoe feels he opted for something special by agreeing to link up with Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
