Greuther Furth technical director Martin Meichelbeck has confirmed that Leeds United loanee Yosuke Ideguchi has suffered a setback due to a meniscal injury.

Ideguchi, who joined Bavarian side Furth on a season-long deal in the summer, was in the process of rehabilitation after suffering a Posterior Cruciate Ligament injury in September.

The 22-year-old has now suffered an injury to the meniscus while he was still undergoing build-up training as part of the rehabilitation process.

Despite making healthy progress on the road to recovery from the PCL injury, the setback inflicted by the meniscus has handed a dent to Ideguchi’s hopes of returning to action soon.

Meichelbeck confirmed the news of the injury and added that the club will engage in a discussion with the Japanese national team doctors and the player to adopt the right therapy for the injury.

“We will discuss the therapeutic approach with the Japanese national team doctors and Yosuke together”, Meichelbeck told the club’s official website.
