Roma have tabled an offer for Lille midfielder Thiago Mendes, who has also been linked with Everton and Southampton in recent days.

The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder’s future at Lille has been under the scanner and the Ligue 1 side are expected to take a decision on whether to keep him at the club.

Lille are in dire need of funds and Mendes is one of the players who the club are considering selling him in order to bring in some money to their coffers.

Chelsea were linked with Mendes earlier this season, but Everton and Southampton have been mooted as the keenest to take Mendes to England in the current transfer window.

However, Roma are the ones who have made a move for the player and according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Lille have received an initial offer from the Serie A giants for Mendes.

The Giallorossi have tabled an initial loan offer with an option to buy the midfielder at the end of the season.
