Monaco have stepped up on their efforts to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan in the January transfer window.

Batshuayi joined Valencia on a season-long loan deal last summer but the Spanish giants want to cut short his stay at the club following an underwhelming first half of the season.

Valencia coach Marcelino wants to sign a new striker and the club have been in conversations with Chelsea in order to find a solution for Batshuayi in the January window.

The Belgian doesn’t feature in Maurizio Sarri’s plans and Chelsea are looking to send him out on another loan deal, with a number of clubs showing an interest.

Monaco have been monitoring the situation since last month and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, they have opened talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for the striker.

The Ligue 1 giants have already been in negotiations with Chelsea for Cesc Fabregas and now want Batshuayi to also arrive at the Stade Louis II this month.

Monaco coach Thierry Henry worked with Batshuayi during his coaching stint with Belgium and wants to reunite with the striker at Monaco as well.

Chelsea are keen to find a solution quickly and take the striker off Valencia’s hands as soon as possible.
