Derby County midfielder Mason Mount has warned Leeds United that results suggest the Rams have extra desire to punch above their weight when they are playing away from home.

Frank Lampard’s men will take the trip to Elland Road this evening as they aim to inflict a fourth-straight defeat in all competitions on the league leaders.

The Whites registered an emphatic 4-1 win during the reverse fixture at Pride Park early on in the season, but Derby have continued to be in the promotion mix.

Despite their inconsistency in the first half of the season, Derby have managed to script a number of impressive victories on the road so far this term.

The Rams were successful against Manchester United at Old Trafford and nearly caused another upset at Stamford Bridge in the EFL Cup, while also registering impressive wins away from home over West Brom and Norwich City in the Championship.

Mount, who is currently on loan from Chelsea, issued a warning to Leeds by suggesting that recent results reveal the fact that Derby have an extra desire to punch above their weight on their travels.

“They are two big results in our season, but also looking at Chelsea away where we have gone there, they are obviously a good team, and played our stuff and we set up well”, Mount told talkSPORT.

“So I think you look at all three of those games and you think, we can go away from home and play well and nearly get a result against Chelsea and obviously win the other two games.

“We know what we can do, especially away from home.

"We have got that desire and we are very, very focused for this game.”

Derby, who currently occupy the final playoff position in the league table, have amassed 43 points from 26 games in the Championship.
