Chelsea are assessing the possibility of making a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the transfer window this month.

The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer and is close to agreeing on a contract with Barcelona over a free transfer at the end of the season.

PSG have suspended him from playing and are desperate to sell him this month in order to earn a fee from his departure.

Bayern Munich are interested in taking Rabiot to Bavaria in the winter window and it seems a Premier League club are now probing the scenario with the Frenchman.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Chelsea are going through their scouting reports on Rabiot and are considering making a move for him this month.

The Premier League giants are yet to take a concrete step, but the club are looking at a scenario where Rabiot could replace Cesc Fabregas, who joined Monaco this week.

If Chelsea make a move, they would be ready to table a bid of more than €10m in order to sign Rabiot in January.

The midfielder still prefers a move in the summer on a free transfer and Barcelona remain his preferred destination.
